Our Desk Assistant program is intended for individuals with a strong interest in television journalism – specifically network news and cable news. The positions provide excellent opportunities to learn the basics of reporting and production by observing and working with some of the best, most experienced news professionals at a major news organization. NBC News Digital is seeking an experienced Breaking News Editor to oversee its breaking politics coverage on weekend nights for NBCNews.com. The ideal candidate will have a passion for live news events, including live blogging, with experience in this area being a plus. They should be able to work quickly, accurately, and competitively, maintaining acute attention to detail at all times. Additionally, they must be comfortable making quick, independent decisions during fast-breaking news and alerts. The breaking desk is the heart of the politics team on NBCNews.com.

NBC News is looking for a producer to join its Business & Economy unit. This person will report to the Senior Editor of the unit and work with the full team of correspondents, reporters, producers and editors on a broad scope of topics including consumer issues, business trends, the economy and showbiz. The producer will have a high metabolism for daily news while also constantly thinking about the bigger picture. They will be adept at producing for a range of shows, content types and platforms, including NBC News’ website.

NBC News Digital is looking for an editor to join its owned platforms team, helping with weekend coverage needs. The editor will curate the NBCNews.com homepage and app, write breaking news alerts for app and email, and distribute content to partners such as Apple News, Yahoo and Flipboard. The editor will handle stories from all newsroom sections, including breaking news, politics, business, sports and lifestyle. The ideal candidate will have strong editorial judgment and excellent writing and editing skills.
